ANALYST

Educators facilitate learning with technology to support student achievement of the ISTE Standards for Students. Educators:

7a

Provide alternative ways for students to demonstrate competency and reflect on their learning using technology.

7b

Use technology to design and implement a variety of formative and summative assessments that accommodate learner needs, provide timely feedback to students and inform instruction.

7c

Use assessment data to guide progress and communicate with students, parents and education stakeholders to build student self-direction.

ARTIFACTS

Geometry Pre/Post Assessment 7a,7b, and 7c

This was an assessment designed on Google Forms. This was given to the students either as a pre or post-assessment. Students used Chromebooks to take the assessment independently. I was able to incorporate multiple choice answers with several visuals. The students had the option to take the assessment digitally, print one out and take it with pencil, read through it individually or go through each question as I read them aloud using my classroom projector. The assessments were graded automatically and I was able to see my students' success as well as their areas of weakness. The results guided next steps for my instruction. I also had the opportunity to bring up each students assessment when discussing grades with parents during conferences.

Parent assessment

7a and 7c

This was a survey I put out on students' desks the night of our "Open House". This is the night before school started. Families are invited to come in and meet their new teachers and see their classroom. I set several Chromebooks out around the room and encourage parents to fill out their survey about their child. I also have several hardcopies of the survey if parents felt uncomfortable using the computers. Many of our families do not attend this event. Because the survey was digital, I am able to email it home to families that are unable to attend. As the surveys are filled out I am able to collect data and guide what that students needs may be.
